Terms of Sale.
These terms govern the sale of Unitree robots and related products by MCMCO CC, trading as MCM Robotics, through this website. Read them together with our Product Safety Notice and Website Terms and Privacy Notice.
LAST UPDATED 9 JULY 2026
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or waives any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, including the right to safe, good quality goods and the supplier liability for harm in section 61, and nothing here excuses gross negligence. Where any term conflicts with a right you have under that Act as a consumer, that Act prevails.
1. Who you are dealing with

2. These terms and your acceptance
These terms apply to every order placed through this website. When you place an order you are asked to confirm, by ticking an unticked box before the order is submitted, that you have read and accept these Terms of Sale and the Product Safety Notice. That confirmation, together with your order, forms the agreement between us. If you do not accept these terms, please do not place an order; contact us instead and we will assist you directly.
For robots, a further signed document, the Customer Awareness and Safe Operation Acknowledgement, is completed together with your order before payment. Where anything in that signed document differs from these terms for a particular sale, the signed document applies to that sale.
3. Definitions
- Products: the robots, robotic arms, accessories and related items we supply.
- Business Customer: a juristic person (company, close corporation, trust or similar) whose asset value or annual turnover equals or exceeds R2 million at the time of the transaction. Under section 5(2)(b) of the Consumer Protection Act and the threshold in Government Notice 294 of 2011, the Act does not apply to a transaction with such a buyer, and the clauses marked as applying to Business Customers are enforceable against them.
- Consumer Customer: any other customer. Clauses that would limit rights are applied to Consumer Customers only to the extent the Consumer Protection Act allows.
- Intended Use: operation of the Products for research, education, development, inspection or demonstration purposes, by trained adult operators, in line with the manufacturer manual, our handover training and the Product Safety Notice, and excluding the prohibited uses listed in the Product Safety Notice.
4. Products, specifications and pricing
- All prices are shown in South African Rand and exclude VAT. VAT at 15 percent is added at checkout and on your invoice.
- Robot prices are based on the manufacturer list price in United States Dollars and are converted at a live exchange rate. Prices can therefore change. The price that applies to your order is the price confirmed on your invoice.
- A quotation is valid until the date stated on it. After that date it is subject to re-confirmation of the ZAR to USD exchange rate.
- Product images, videos, weights, specifications and descriptions are provided in good faith as a general guide. Manufacturer specifications can change without notice. Videos show trained operators in controlled conditions.
- Placing an order is an offer by you to buy. A sale is concluded only when we confirm your order and issue an invoice. We may decline or cancel an order, for example where a Product is unavailable or a price was clearly incorrect, in which case any amount already paid is refunded.
5. Ordering and payment
- Payment is by electronic funds transfer (EFT) or bank transfer. No card payment is taken on the website.
- When you place an order you receive a formal invoice with our banking details. Your order number is the payment reference.
- Your order is confirmed, and procurement begins, once payment reflects in full in our account. Until then, prices and availability remain subject to confirmation.
- Ownership of the Products passes to you once payment has been received in full. Risk in the Products passes to you on delivery.
- You receive your order confirmation and tax invoice by email as a PDF, which you should keep as your record of the transaction. We also keep a copy and can re-issue it to you on request.
6. Shipping, import and delivery
- For each robot unit, international air freight, import and customs clearance (handled through our clearing agents), and local delivery within South Africa are itemised on your invoice and charged per unit. Accessories ordered with a robot ship at no extra freight.
- Expected delivery is 4 to 6 weeks from confirmation of payment, subject to manufacturer production capacity. We deliver to all nine provinces of South Africa.
- Delivery timelines are estimates given in good faith and are not guaranteed dates. We will keep you informed of material changes.
7. Safety, warnings and training
The Products are research grade machinery for trained adult operators. They are not toys and not consumer appliances. Before you order, the Product Safety Notice sets out the real risks and the mandatory safety rules, and for robots these risks are also drawn specifically to your attention in the Customer Awareness and Safe Operation Acknowledgement, as contemplated in sections 49 and 58 of the Consumer Protection Act. By ordering, you confirm that:
- you have read and understood the Product Safety Notice for the Product you are buying;
- the Products will be operated only by persons who have completed the manufacturer or MCM orientation training; and
- you accept the obligation to pass these warnings on to every person you permit to operate or approach the Products, and to supervise their use after delivery.
8. Customer obligations and indemnity
- You will operate the Products only for the Intended Use, maintain the safe operating zone, supervision and emergency stop procedures described in the Product Safety Notice, and not modify the hardware, firmware or safety functions except with manufacturer approved tools and documentation.
- You will install safety relevant firmware updates within a reasonable time of being notified, and will not permit unsupervised interaction between the Products and children or members of the public.
- Indemnity. You indemnify MCM Robotics, its members and employees against claims, losses and costs (including legal costs) brought by any third party to the extent they arise from your operation, possession or use of the Products after delivery, from use other than the Intended Use, from modification or reprogramming by anyone other than MCM or the manufacturer, or from a failure to apply the warnings, training or supervision requirements. This indemnity does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by a defect present in the Product at the time of supply, by our own negligence, or to the extent MCM Robotics is liable to any person under the Consumer Protection Act, including under section 61. It applies to a Consumer Customer only to the extent the Consumer Protection Act permits, and does not derogate from the consumer savings statement at the top of this page.
- Where your use involves public demonstrations, events or crowd interaction, you are responsible for your own risk assessment and public liability insurance. Our supply of a Product does not authorise unsafe public use.
9. Warranty, defects and returns
- The robot unit carries the manufacturer warranty stated on its product page and invoice, typically 12 months, administered by Unitree with claims facilitated locally by MCM Robotics, including first line South African support. Batteries, consumables and normal wear parts are covered only for the shorter period the manufacturer states for those items, or are excluded where the manufacturer excludes them. This voluntary manufacturer warranty is in addition to, and does not reduce, your Consumer Protection Act rights, including the six-month quality right below.
- The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, accident, unauthorised modification, use outside the Intended Use, or failure to follow the safety and maintenance instructions.
- If goods are defective, a Consumer Customer has the rights given by the Consumer Protection Act, including the right within six months of delivery to return goods that fail to meet the standard the Act requires, for repair, replacement or refund at the consumer's election, as provided in that Act.
- To start a warranty claim, a return or a repair, contact us at info@mcmrobotics.co.za with your order number. We will confirm the process and, where a return is required, how to send the Product back safely.
- Where the seven-day cooling-off right for electronic transactions under section 44 of ECTA applies, you may cancel and return the goods on the terms that Act provides. That right does not apply to goods that are made or configured to your specification, that are clearly personalised, or that by their nature cannot be returned, as set out in ECTA. Some configured or built-to-order robots may fall into this category. Your Consumer Protection Act rights, including for defective goods, are separate and are not affected by this.
10. Limitation of liability
- Business Customers. For a Business Customer, our total liability arising from or in connection with the Products, however it arises, is limited to the purchase price of the Product giving rise to the claim, and neither party is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data or loss of research output.
- Consumer Customers. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that may not lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability under the Consumer Protection Act and liability for gross negligence. The clause above does not apply to a Consumer Customer except to the extent that Act permits.
- Software and connectivity. The Products depend on software, wireless links and third party services. To the extent the law allows, we do not warrant uninterrupted or error free software operation; the manufacturer firmware licence and update terms apply. Safe stop behaviour on loss of the control link is a documented safety feature that you must test as part of your own commissioning.
11. Manufacturer, recourse and recalls
- We supply the Products as an authorised South African distributor of Unitree Robotics, and pass the manufacturer warranty through to you. Nothing in these terms limits our own rights of recourse against the manufacturer.
- You agree to cooperate with any safety recall or safety bulletin issued by us or the manufacturer, including making the Product available for inspection or update. We keep records that let us contact Product owners for this purpose.
12. Your privacy
When you use the configurator, request pricing or place an order, we collect personal information in order to process and support your order. We handle that information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), as described in our Website Terms and Privacy Notice.
13. Complaints and dispute resolution
If something is wrong, please contact us first at info@mcmrobotics.co.za or +27 44 878 2917 so we can put it right. A Consumer Customer who is not satisfied may also refer a complaint to the National Consumer Commission or an accredited consumer court, as provided in the Consumer Protection Act.
14. Governing law
These terms and any sale under them are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the version published on this page when you place the order. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this page.
