Why MCM Robotics

The official channel, on this side of the ocean.

MCM Robotics is Unitree Robotics' official distributor for South Africa. Buying through us means a manufacturer backed warranty that is claimed and managed from George, genuine parts ordered against your serial number, a landed price in Rand with SARS clearance already handled, and first line support in your own time zone. A grey import gives you none of those things, which matters a great deal the first time something breaks.

What you actually get

Six reasons, none of them marketing.

Official channel

You are buying from Unitree, not around them.

MCM Robotics is Unitree Robotics' official distributor for South Africa. Stock is imported directly from the factory against your order, not sourced from a third party reseller or parallel importer. Every unit is traceable to Unitree by serial number.

Factory backed warranty

A warranty that is honoured from George, not from another continent.

Warranty claims run through us as the official distributor. We assess the machine locally, coordinate with Unitree engineering, and manage the repair end to end. You never open a support ticket with a factory eight time zones away, and you never ship a six figure machine off on faith.

Genuine parts

Batteries, chargers, controllers and structural spares against your serial number.

Parts are ordered as genuine Unitree components matched to your exact unit. No generic substitutes and no guesswork on fitment. A robot you cannot get a battery for is an expensive ornament, and that is the single most common thing that goes wrong with a grey import.

Landed price in Rand

One number, in ZAR, with the customs work already done.

We import directly, handle SARS clearance and invoice in Rand on EFT. You are quoted a landed cost rather than a foreign list price that grows by the time it clears. No surprise duty bill, no clearing agent to appoint, no exchange rate to gamble on.

Support in your time zone

Remote first diagnostics during South African business hours.

Every robot is checked before dispatch with firmware verified and hardware inspected. After that, most issues resolve over a call using logs, video and firmware state, without shipping anything anywhere. First line support is carried by the people who sold and imported the machine.

We run these ourselves

Our own G1 works South African corporate events.

MCM Robotics is part of the MCM Group, a family of operating businesses in George. The machines we sell are machines we operate, so the advice you get on payloads, battery life and what a platform will actually survive comes from running them, not from a brochure.

The comparison

Official channel against a grey import.

Both routes land a robot in South Africa. Only one of them is still useful to you in month fourteen, when a battery has aged out or an actuator needs replacing.

Ask us anything
Is MCM Robotics the official Unitree distributor in South Africa?
Yes. MCM Robotics is the official Unitree Robotics distributor for South Africa, based in George in the Western Cape and part of the MCM Group. Stock is imported directly from Unitree, invoiced in Rand, and covered by a manufacturer backed warranty administered locally.
Why not just import a Unitree robot myself?
A grey import carries no local warranty, no parts channel and no support obligation. Unitree has no record of the sale, so a failed battery or a damaged actuator becomes your problem to solve from South Africa. You also carry the SARS clearance, the duty bill and the freight risk yourself. Buying through the official channel puts all of that on us.
What does the warranty actually cover, and who handles a claim?
The warranty is manufacturer backed and claims run through MCM Robotics as the official distributor. We assess the unit locally, coordinate with Unitree engineering and manage the repair end to end. Damage from unauthorised disassembly, unapproved modifications, operating beyond the published IP rating, or use outside Unitree's operating guidelines is repairable but is not a warranty claim.
Can I get spare parts in South Africa?
Yes. Batteries, chargers, controllers and structural spares are ordered as genuine Unitree parts against your robot's serial number, so fitment is exact. Parts availability is the single biggest practical difference between an official unit and a grey import.
How long does delivery take and how am I invoiced?
Typical delivery is four to six weeks from order, depending on the platform and configuration. You are invoiced in Rand by a South African company and pay by EFT. The price you are quoted is a landed cost, so SARS clearance and duties are already accounted for.
Do you support development work and research use?
Yes. EDU configurations unlock full secondary development including low level joint control, perception streams, simulation twins in Isaac Sim and MuJoCo, and Unitree's open SDKs. We help departments pick the right tier and budget it in Rand.

Tell us what the robot has to do.

Send us the job, not the model number. We will tell you which platform fits, what it lands at in Rand, and honestly whether it is the wrong tool for what you are trying to do.
